ADMISSION GUIDELINES
NON-DISCRIMINATION
St. Joseph Elementary Catholic School admits students of any sex, race, color, or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The school does not discriminate against any applicant or employee on the basis of sex, race, color, or ethnic origin, the administration of its educational policies, scholarship programs, athletic, and other school administered programs.
ACCEPTANCE
As Roman Catholics dedicated to the God-given dignity of every human being, we state clearly that there are no discrimination practices in our enrollment policy due to race ethnic background, social or economic status in any decision-making. Since we are a Catholic religious-oriented school founded for the St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish, we give preference to members of the St. Joseph Parish and to members of the Roman Catholic Church, but we welcome members of other creeds once our Catholic applicants have been served.
While St. Joseph Elementary School does not offer a special needs program, it will make reasonable accommodations for otherwise qualified applicants. St. Joseph Elementary School cannot accept students with severe academic or behavioral problems.
To insure proper grade placement, new students entering Grade 2-8 take a religion, math, and reading test based on the St. Joseph Elementary Catholic School curriculum. Prior to entrance to first grade, new students are administered a Readiness Test and Maturity Screening Test. All Kindergarten applicants are administered a Maturity Screening Test.
The School Administration reserves the right not to refuse acceptance of students whose test scores show a lack of basic
skills or maturity required for a particular grade.
